Therapy for Creative Professionals

I work with actors, directors, writers, showrunners and other industry professionals. Many of them come to me through a referral from someone who has already worked with me. Schedules in this business are unusual, and that makes it hard to get real work done in fifty minutes. So I push for longer sessions when we can.

What Usually Brings People In

You can be very good at what you do and still hear no for a year. Knowing that in advance does not make it easier when it happens.

There is usually a gap between who people think you are and who goes home at night, and that gap costs more the longer it runs.

Change is hard in either direction. Getting the job or not getting it, both bring their own challenges.

Performance anxiety usually isn’t about the performance. We look at what it’s actually about.

A block is usually protecting you from something. We find out what.

Abuse of power is common in this business. Most people carry it quietly because saying something could cost them work.

Underneath all of it is whatever happened long before any of this started, which is usually what the work is actually about.

The Work Itself

Trauma and EMDR

On-set incidents, whatever happened earlier that keeps surfacing, and the long stretches that never had one event attached to them. People usually call it a fear of failing, or of being found out. The work goes back to where that started. EMDR is done in person. How EMDR works →

Who You Are Between Jobs

Being known for a version of yourself you outgrew some time ago. What happens when the character and the person stop separating cleanly.

ACR

Couples and Family

Location work, schedules that never line up, income that arrives in lumps, and a partner who sits outside all of it. This is often what finally gets somebody through the door.

If This Isn't a Fit

I'd rather say so early on and help you find somebody who would be.
